BLUEBERRY Z10 LAUNCHED BY LIME—04/20/13
LIME introduced the new Blackberry Z10 mobile phone at an event attended by representatives of BlackBerry, a firm based in Canada. They said the new smart phone will be available from LIME in August 2013. It will have a special introductory price for one day. LIME said the new phone running on its data network provides a better experience for customers.

JAMAICA AT FOREFRONT OF RESEARCH ON PROSTATE CANCER—04/22/13
Jamaica’s Dr. Henry Lowe, cancer researcher and executive chairman of Eden Gardens and the Biotech R&D Institute, along with his team of scientists, is making major advances in the battle against prostate cancer. Their research has indicated that Jamaica Ball Moss could be key in treating the disease. A substance isolated from the Ball Moss has proved to be very effective in killing the cells of prostate cancer.

XTERA CHOSEN IN UPGRADE OF SUBSEA CABLE SYSTEM —04/23/13
The Eastern Caribbean Fiber System (ECFS) Consortium has chosen Xtera Communications Inc., global provider of optical networking systems, to upgrade the Caribbean festoon subsea cable system. The system comprises ten segments that connect Tortola in the British Virgin Islands with Trinidad. Xtera’s Nu-Wave Optima(TM) equipment provides the chance to combine 10G and 100G channel rates to support current and emerging high-capacity services.

FIRST ECO-STORE FOR APPLIANCES ON TAP FOR ATL—04/24/13
Appliance Traders Limited has developed a new division of the company, which is designed to take a larger market share of the alternative energy sector. Currently, only 25 discrete companies operate in that sector. According to Paul Grey, energy and engineering manager at ATL, says the alternative market has a value of about US$20 million, with plenty of room for growth.
