CARIBBEAN NATIONS PROMISE TO TRADE FOSSIL FUELS FOR RENEWABLES—02/11/14
Seven of the 13 nations in the Caribbean met at Richard Branson’s private island to discuss options for using clean, renewable energy sources. These nations have pledged to move their fuel consumption to clean energy in an attempt to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and to reduce carbon emissions.

SCIENTISTS WARN CARIBBEAN COULD FACE BIGGEST TSUNAMI EVER RECORDED—02/12/14
According to research by Dr. Simon Day of the Benfield Greig Hazard Research Center at University College in London, the Caribbean region could be at risk from a huge tsunami that would devastate island coastlines from Brazil to Florida. The wave would result from a volcanic eruption in the Canary Islands and could reach as high as 330 feet from trough to crest, according to scientific predictions.
