CARIBBEAN REGION GETS $6.8 MILLION FOR ENERGY PROJECTS—02/16/14
A pledge of $6.8 million has been received from Germany to aid nations in the Caribbean trade bloc lower their dependence on petroleum. According to CARICOM, the money will be available via a regional renewable energy and efficiency aid program. Germany has provided almost $22 million in total to help Caribbean nations move into the renewable energy sector.

JAMAICAN APP DEVELOPER CREATES POPULAR MOBILE GAME—02/17/14
The newest Jamaican-sourced game app, “Jungle Escape,” is designed for Windows Phone by software developer Nicolas Brown. The free app has been downloaded over 200,000 times since it launched at the end of 2013. Brown is a student at Northern Caribbean University and also a partner in the start-up firm Ajure, based in Manchester. The app is intended to test the market, Brown explained.
