SCHOOLS RECEIVE TABLET COMPUTERS TO ENCOURAGE LOCAL ANIMATORS—03/01/14
Jamaica’s state minister for science, technology, energy and mining, Julian Robinson, believes companies that create animation could find opportunities in the local market after the government provides 30,000 tablet computers to the island’s schools later in 2014. According to Robinson, Jamaica wants to develop its own animation solutions. He made his remarks at a press conference to announce the Digital Jam 3.0 Caribbean Edition conference, which will be held at the University of the West Indies Mona.

Over 50 teams from throughout the Caribbean had the opportunity to work with experts from Silicon Valley and learn how to find online job opportunities or obtain funding for e-businesses. Digital Jam 3.0 offers young people in the region a way to showcase their talents and creativity, develop new products, and create jobs and startup firms.
